Privacy Policy
HelmKeeper · Last updated: August 28, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Double Check Advertising ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the HelmKeeper mobile application ("HelmKeeper" or the "App"). By using HelmKeeper, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the information needed to provide HelmKeeper's features:
- Account information. You can create an account with an email address and password, or by using Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. When you use Apple or Google, we receive a unique identifier and, depending on your choice, your name and email address. If you select Apple's "Hide My Email," we receive a private relay address rather than your real email. Passwords are stored only as a cryptographic hash by our authentication provider and are never visible to us.
- Boating data you provide. Information you enter into the App, including vessel details, maintenance and pre-departure checklists, float plans, insurance policy details, saved locations, submissions, and your in-app preferences.
- Location data. With your permission, HelmKeeper accesses your device's GPS location to support features such as float plans, current-position weather, and saved locations. You can revoke location access at any time in your device settings; some features may not function without it.
- Usage analytics. We use analytics to understand, in aggregate, which features are used and whether they work — for example how many people create a float plan, or come back to check conditions. This covers which features are opened and completed, plus basic device information (device model, OS version, app version). Analytics also uses an anonymous identifier generated on your device, so that a returning user can be told apart from a new one; it is not your advertising identifier and cannot be used to work out who you are. It is not linked to your account and it never includes anything you enter into the App — we record that a float plan was created, not what was in it, and that you searched Help, not what you searched for. There is no session recording: we do not capture screenshots or replays of your screen.
- Approximate location from your internet address. HelmKeeper never sends your GPS position to analytics. Our analytics provider does estimate an approximate location — country, state and city — from the internet address your device connects through, which is standard practice for app and web analytics. The internet address itself is discarded and is not stored with the analytics record, and no street-level detail — no postal code, no coordinates — is kept. This is an estimate of the general area your internet connection is in, not a record of where your boat is. It is not linked to your account, and it is separate from the GPS location described above, which is used only for the features you ask for and is never sent to analytics.
- Purchases and subscriptions. Payments for subscriptions and one-time purchases (such as Lifetime access) are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), depending on your device. We do not receive or store your payment card details. We receive limited transaction and subscription-status information — for example, whether you have an active subscription or own Lifetime access — needed to provide and maintain your access. Subscription management is handled through your App Store (Apple ID) or Google Play account.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide, maintain, and operate HelmKeeper's features.
- To store and sync your boating data to your account.
- To retrieve relevant weather information for your location.
- To verify and maintain your subscription or purchase status and provide the features you've paid for.
- To understand usage patterns and improve the App.
- To respond to support requests and communicate with you about the App.
3. Third-Party Services
HelmKeeper relies on the following services, each governed by its own privacy practices:
- Apple — Sign in with Apple for authentication, and the App Store / In-App Purchases for processing subscriptions and purchases.
- Google — Sign in with Google for authentication, and Google Play for processing subscriptions and purchases, on Android. When you sign in with Google, we receive a unique identifier, your name, and email address from Google to create and access your account.
- Supabase as our backend, database and authentication provider, which securely stores your account and boating data and handles email-and-password sign-in.
- PostHog for product analytics, processed on PostHog’s United States infrastructure. Analytics uses an anonymous identifier generated on your device and is not linked to your account. PostHog also estimates an approximate location from your internet address, as described in Section 1; your GPS position is never sent to it. Because analytics is never linked to your account, there is no identifier tying those records to you — which also means we cannot pick them out to delete them individually. Deleting your account (Section 5) removes everything you entered into the App.
- NOAA / National Weather Service for weather data. Weather information is sourced from publicly available U.S. government data. HelmKeeper is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by NOAA or the National Weather Service.
- AI service providers (future). We may introduce AI-powered features. If and when you use one, the content you submit (such as your question and relevant in-app context) may be sent to a third-party AI provider to generate a response. We will update this Policy and our App Store privacy disclosures to reflect those practices before such a feature becomes available, and we will not sell this information.
4. How Your Information Is Shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as needed to operate the App (with the service providers listed above), to comply with the law, or to protect our rights and the safety of users. Float plans and similar information are shared only with the recipients you choose.
5. Data Retention & Account Deletion
We retain your account and boating data for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time from within the App (Settings → Account → Delete account). Deleting your account removes your account record and cascades to delete your associated boating data from our systems. Once deleted, this data cannot be recovered. Note: deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription — manage or cancel subscriptions in your device's App Store settings.
6. Data Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encryption in transit, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Children's Privacy
HelmKeeper is intended for users age 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. While the App's content is rated suitable for all ages, you must be at least 13 to create an account and use the App. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.
8. Your Rights & Choices
- Access and update: View and edit your data within the App.
- Delete: Permanently delete your account and data from within the App.
- Location: Grant or revoke location permission in your device settings.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have additional rights. Contact us to exercise them.
Your state privacy rights. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to request its correction or deletion, and to be told what we share and with whom. HelmKeeper does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can delete your account and all associated data yourself in Settings, or contact help@helmkeeper.com.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the App. Continued use of HelmKeeper after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

Terms of Service
HelmKeeper · Last updated: August 28, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the HelmKeeper mobile application ("HelmKeeper" or the "App"), provided by Double Check Advertising ("we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, accessing, or using HelmKeeper, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use HelmKeeper. By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement and that the information you provide is accurate.
2. Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date. You may delete your account at any time from within the App.
3. Subscriptions, Free Trial, and Purchases
HelmKeeper is free to download. After a free trial, continued use of the App requires a paid plan. We currently offer:
- Monthly subscription — $1.99 per month (auto-renewable)
- Annual subscription — $9.99 per year (auto-renewable)
- Lifetime access — $39.99, a one-time purchase
New subscribers receive a 1-month free trial on the monthly and annual subscriptions. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, it automatically converts to a paid subscription at the price above. Lifetime access is a one-time, non-recurring purchase and does not include a free trial. Lifetime access grants the core HelmKeeper features included with a subscription, for as long as the HelmKeeper app and service remain available; it is tied to the store account used to buy it (your Apple ID or Google account); on Apple it may be shared via Family Sharing where enabled, and is otherwise non-transferable. Lifetime access does NOT include separately-priced add-ons, optional features, or consumable items (such as AI usage credits) that we may introduce in the future, which remain available for separate purchase. You may purchase Lifetime access at any time, including during a free trial. Because subscriptions and Lifetime access are separate products, buying Lifetime does not automatically cancel a subscription or free trial — to avoid being charged when a trial converts, cancel the subscription in your App Store account settings.
Founding lifetime offer. The one-time Lifetime purchase is a limited offer available to the first 10,000 purchasers. Once that limit is reached, the Lifetime option will be withdrawn from sale and will no longer be available. Lifetime access already purchased remains valid in accordance with these Terms.
All purchases are processed by the store you downloaded HelmKeeper from — the Apple App Store (through your Apple ID) or Google Play (through your Google account). Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period; your Apple ID or Google Play account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your App Store (Apple) or Google Play (Android) account settings. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
Prices are stated in U.S. dollars and may vary by region; we may change prices on a going-forward basis, with notice where required by law. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under the respective store's policies; we generally cannot issue refunds directly.
We may add, change, or discontinue features, plans, and in-app purchases over time, including paid add-ons and consumable items (such as usage credits for certain features). Any new paid feature or item will be clearly identified, with its price and terms shown, before you purchase, and such add-ons or items are not included in Lifetime access (or any subscription) unless we expressly state otherwise. Consumable items are used up as you use the associated feature, are non-refundable except as required by law, may expire, and have no cash value.
4. Artificial Intelligence Features
Some current or future features may use artificial intelligence to generate text, summaries, or recommendations. AI-generated content may be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated, is provided for general informational purposes only, and must not be relied upon for safety, navigation, weather, or emergency decisions. The Important Safety Notice above applies fully to any AI-powered features. If you use an AI-powered feature, the content you submit may be processed by third-party AI service providers to generate a response, as described in our Privacy Policy.
5. Use of the App
You agree to use HelmKeeper only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
- Use the App in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations;
- Attempt to reverse engineer, interfere with, or disrupt the App or its underlying services;
- Access another user's account or data without authorization;
- Rely on the App as your sole source of safety, navigation, or weather information.
6. Weather & Third-Party Data
HelmKeeper displays weather and related data sourced from NOAA / the National Weather Service and other third parties. This data is provided "as is," may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate, and is not guaranteed. HelmKeeper is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by NOAA or the National Weather Service. Always confirm conditions with official sources before making decisions on the water.
7. Intellectual Property
HelmKeeper and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Double Check Advertising and are protected by intellectual property laws. The data you enter remains yours; you grant us a limited license to store and process it solely to provide the App's features.
8. Disclaimers of Warranty

YOUR USE OF THE APP IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
10. Indemnification
